I remember that movie. I played D&D as a kid as well. I mostly played with a group of friends, but we played a handful of different games. None of us ever did the live action thing and I haven't played any of those games since shortly after high school.
In the movie they explain that the battles often take place in public parks. They show some of the people arriving for the battle, but they never show any of the other people in the park. I would love to see some of their reactions as 200 people show up and get out of their cars dressed like knights and mages then proceed to lay out a strategy, give these long, Braveheartesqe speeches then battle.
