Unless you're watching a True 3D movie shot with a true 3D rig, in imax and adjusted to show the true brightness, 3D sucks donkey balls. Most 3D movies are converted from 2D "flat" movies into 3D in post production. The process works in some scenes once in a while but many times its still just flat. Case in point : Thor.
