The govt. wasn't going to pay anything. And how the hell do you think that Canadian oil being moved on a U.S. pipeline is going to increase our gas prices?
Some of the logic here is just insane...people need JOBS. Obama blocked that pipeline because he has big campaign donors and cronies involved in alternative energy. It's just that simple. He put his own money coming in ahead of what is good for the country.
He's a politician. That's what they do.
Also your graph shows what has happened in SPITE of the President's policies. All those gains in oil are on state and private lands, not on the Federal land that Obama has blocked any new drilling on. Obama's policies did not increase oil production by ONE drop. He could have. He could have made it go through the roof. But he has chosen not to in order to placate his constituency.
