I'd suggest they start out with streamate.com and adultwork.com. UK chicas do very well on adultwork.com due to how that site is set up. Myfreecams.com is a tough site to start out on, and cams.com offers a very low percentage. Advise them to stay the hell away from IMLive.com and LiveJasmine.com...the chargebacks there are out of control and the traffic is subpar. Of all the sites I've listed above, only adultwork pays in GBP, all the rest are USD.
Most importantly, tell them to watch out for studios. Lots of chicas unwittingly sign up with studios that take a percentage of earnings for doing nothing, and then are locked into contracts they can't leave. Give them the URLs I've listed above so they can check out the actual sites, not studios or white labels.
As far as being independent, honestly they'd be crazy to try it without having a pre-exisiting bases of customers. I've been (successfully) independent for two years, and I've watched 99.99% of the chicas who decide to "go indy" give up and return to the cam sites within a few months. It's a tough niche to break into. Honestly, I don't even offer advice to cam girls who want to go independent anymore because every single one I've ever tried to assist ends up giving up. I love independent camming and I do really well with it, but it's a ton of ongoing work, way more work than on a cam site. Most aren't prepared for that. Hell, even I would have no doubt failed if I hadn't taken a ton of my cam site customers with me when I made the switch.
Unless this is going to be a side project and not an actual source of income, I'd suggest they build a large and stable customer base first on the cam sites and then go indy.
What they'll need is access to a scanner for sign-up docs or a camera for same. For streamate they'll need a pretty high upload speed by UK standards, but some UK chicas are successful there. They'll also need a decent webcam. I love the logitech 9000 but the logitech C920 is pretty popular as well
As far as earnings on a cam site, there is no normal. Some chicas scrape by, others bank, and there's a ton floating around in the middle. They really won't know what to expect until they try it.
