Go download Malware Bytes if you don't have it already. Boot in safe mode and Malware Bytes should take care of the problem for you without being interrupted.
You probably don't need a subscription based anti-virus to be honest. It's just a bit unnecessary considering a free anti-virus is going to give you protection that's on par if not better.
If you decide to switch, then I would recommend Avast. It's free, it's not a resource hog, and it does the job well. Also, I would recommend getting noscript add-on for Firefox. I think they make it for Chrome also, but I don't remember. It's a bit confusing at first, but it blocks a lot of nasty scripts and exploits from affecting you.
