There are still hundreds if not thousands of private indexing sites out there. I have a friend who works for a hosting company and the techs there have set up their own private indexing site just for their own use. Frankly it's pretty good.
Since it's internal there are no DMCA concerns. They're indexing from an offshore usenet provider. It seems pretty bulletproof (for now anyway). The entertainment industry is going to have a really hard time shutting them down.
