You asked if we held the automobile manufacturer responsible for a drunk driver, and we don't. In the same breath, we don't blame Colt every time there is a school shooting.

But I'm guessing your point is "guns don't people, people kill people". This is true. People kill people with cars, people kill people with knives, people kill people with baseball bets. The difference is we need cars, we need knives, we need baseball bats. We have legitimate need for these items.

But only about thirty percent of Americans own firearms. (I know that number is widely open to debate, but I couldn't really get a firm number.) And even with that group you and further divide it up as to why gun owners own guns - some for sport, some for hunting, yet others for protection. The first part of the problem is that the rest of Americans completely fail to understand why anyone needs a firearm - be it for sport or protection. Most of us go our entire lives without ever having the need to own a firearm.

This is comical.... Gun owners are a loud group who firmly believe in the 2nd amendment. But the rest of Americans don't care either way until there is a mass shooting, and then they are against it.

I have a friend of mine who lives here in the same town, Tony is his name. Six blocks away from me. We have a low crime rate here. He swears up and down that he needs his firearms for home protection. Why does he feel he needs it and I don't, being as we live int he same hometown. I find it comical - he's scared out of his mind and goes to the range every freaking Saturday. Me.... I go once every month. I just don't live in fear like he does and I'm not sure why he does.

But who is tell him he cannot own a firearm? Luckily we do have the 2nd amendment.

We just need better protections as to who is allowed to have firearms.
