You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
Thing about piracy is that it existed WAY before the internet. The first printing presses were viewed as piracy. And paying uploaders is such a tiny, recent part of piracy.
People just do it for the bragging rights. For shtz and gglz. Because they CAN.
Do you think the people get paid that upload the TEN TB A DAY that gets uploaded to Usenet? (Clue: they don't).
This whole file locker/upload monkey thing is a red herring.
This industry fucked this industry up. Circle jerks, virus laden site, diallers, card banging, shit sites, misleading tours, content rotation, hidden x sales etc etc etc
The list goes on and on and on. We literally trained consumers not to trust us. Literally. We'd take the few people that did trust us and fuck them up. Time and again.
Now, guess what? They don't trust us.
Closing 10, 50, 100 or 1000 file lockers won't make a red cent's worth of difference to this industry's revenues.
My clients are doing more than fine, or they wouldn't be paying me to help them with marketing, but for most of them, monthly memberships paid for with a credit card is a very small part of their revenue. Times change.
