Rogers in Canada now allows customers to get their phone unlocked (even if they are on a contract) if they are traveling to the US or another country so that they can use a service provider where thy are traveling to so they will not need to purchase a travel pack with minutes/texting/data. This is ONLY if they are traveling. If they tell Rogers that they want it unlocked so they can go to another cell provider in Canada that would be seen as a port out trigger and would not be allowed.
the charge for unlocking, at least with Rogers, is $50.
