Crime is high but depends on where you live, few blocks can be a substantial difference in safety, most shit happens on the west & south east side where you wouldn't want to live anyway, common sense helps as well like don't walk through an alley at 2 a.m. drunk with an iphone in your hand and wonder why ya got mugged, moving to Tampa, FL area in 1-2 years but that decision is based on weather/family over crime stats. Will it be safer in Tampa area probably so but it will also be more boring with less shit to do.
