I think it's pretty obvious that Obama was mixing government business with campaigning. You feel free to downplay it all you want but that's exactly what's being admitted here.

While this isn't a good thing, it is not the first time any of this kind of stuff has happened.
Look at Karl Rove. He ran Bush's campaigns and still played a major role at the white house. I'm sure other past presidents have had similar people in similar roles. I'm not forgiving Obama for this, just saying that it likely happens all the time.
