Are you logged in as an admin? Or sometimes the editor won't show up with some older theme versions.
Just making sure, you aren't hosting it on wordpress.com are you?
Or you could just use FTP and notepad, almost exactly the same thing.
Or maybe try updating Wordpress. Ex: v3.2 breaks the editor but updating to v3.2.1 fixes it..
