I completely agree with the rest of what you said, it is more up to the individual than it is up to the method. But data is data and is valuable.
Say somebody posted a list of hist sites/marketing efforts and explained his traffic sources, it would help somebody else grasp the extent of work needed to succeed because he would have a reference on past failed marketing attempts of others and would not make the same mistakes or would know up-front that much more work is needed to achieve goal x.

knowing what does not work is valuable info...we all know what putting up a crappy site and buying crappy traffic will not work...but I have seen people with complex marketing structures that are failing at promoting...maybe some of them will share or are about to give up and will post valuable information, that people like me can analyze and give me better perspective on how to try doing the same thing, only my way...
