If the MFC's and tokens business model did not worked, these sites had closed, and no one copied. So you should guess, it works, financially, for its owners.
Don't get me wrong, on the studio's point of view, MFC it may suck, I was just saying that on the MFC's owner and its affiliates point of view, it does well.
I know that top MFC girls do not splitcam, only the low camscore does, but 99.9% of the MFC girls are NOT in top. Most studios I talk with are hating MFC (or chaturbate, bongacams, even out tubecamgirl lol) for reasons you stated (girl next to me is showing all for 1 token). Still everyone keeps MFC open "just in case" even if doing no money there, which makes MFC (and clones) a winning business model. Studios in particular hate MFC because the models there can easily get contacts of members to get western unions (without declare this to studio) and often quit the studio and setup home to get 100% of MFC plus the western unions. The "PVT" sites got admins enforcing the "do not share email/skype" rule to avoid western unions, also locking the models to studio who registered first, so "investment" of studio into models, it is more safeguarded (wheter or not the model calls this pimp slavery).
We run 2 cam sites, one free with "tokens" (tubecamgirl.com) and one with private only (chatgf.com, there is not even free chat). If MFC (and clones) did not existed, I would have kept only the PVT site. As well as pay site owners would have kept tgp's if tubes did not existed. But since MFC (and tubes) do exist, we (and every other cam site) adapted.
Adapted to what? To a free cams business models which it works for the sites (and several affiliates), even if not that much for studios and models. What should cam sites do, die by keeping "PVT only" while leaving all the business and pay users to MFC's? While complaining on boards?
