In adult sense you described, there's a sale taking place that the check-writers process and make a percentage/rate.
Each time that ad is served, google makes money from adwords and splits a share with the adsense user. sure, in the short/immediate run, it takes away a place to advertise thus cutting into the possible amount of views google can serve on that one site, but they have an influx of sites to serve them on and really, it turns out more profitable this way because they never have to share that money from adwords
If you cant get the simple concept of how this works (if true) then I am really wondering, what are you doing here if you don't know the difference... it's 1+1=2 not 1+1=3

I thought Googles business was putting ads on sites and selling them - If they terminate the publishers nobody makes money - Including Google - I still think it would be very short sighted of them...
