You are correct, they don't really care about the old computers as they don't make any money off of them. Granted you may buy apps but unlike Microsoft you don't pay for the upgrades (or meagerly compared to buying new hardware from them).
Plus with the first iPad everything seems to crash (low ram, only 256MB). So I gave it to my momma!
One of my side jobs is working as an iPhone/iPad repair tech for a company called iCracked, it's interesting the stats we get on repairs 90% is screen replacement from shatters. I'm a little worried about the new Sapphire glass coming out for new iPhones though...
luckily it's only a sidejob.
