Those of us who know about such things have been quietly stocking up over recent months and years. Anyone who is mindful of having any sort of preparedness for whatever might come in the near or not-too-distant future is and should be ready to self-sustain for at least 6 months.
Key words being "at least".
If your water and power shuts off, if your local supermarket shelves are suddenly empty, and something like ebola is out there killing everyone, you're either going to be screwed like the rest or you're going to survive.
Which one will you be?
Of course you could just pick up a gun and be the guy that goes out and steals from the people who are prepared when you weren't. But the flaw in that plan is that you may very well get your theiving useless head blown off by someone who truly IS prepared. ha, won't that be fun? :D
