Sorry to hear read this, and am not trying to sound like an asshole, but he fucked up, he needs to fix his short comings as a doc.

This is the hard thing to think about but are you keeping the dog alive and going thru all this pain for the dog or for yourself? I remember a vet telling me alot people kept an animal alive not for the animals sake but for their own and they went thru alot of unneeded pain. I lost my big lovable mutt two weeks ago to cancer and it stills hurts alot I hope for the best for you and your dog.
You guys don't know what you're talking about. If this dog really is at a critical care facility, it's probably already seeing some of the very best Vets around. What your suggesting is a little like checking out of the Mayo Clinic because you expect to get better care at a county hospital.

Once you've had Peritonitis caused by a rupture, it's not as simple as just open 'er up and stich 'er back together. The surgical site has to be reopened and you're basically trying to clean an infection out. Bacteria floods in to the system and it's just a real mess to deal with. You can't tell if you've cleaned it all up and a dog can be doing well one moment and crashing another which is why you need the constant monitoring and blood work.

Again, I don't know if THIS particular instance is a scam or just what's going on, but from what's been said it's not as simple as a Vet screwed up go to another clinic.
