Most times ill keep optimizing and testing until I can get 100% Roi so for example if im being paid $100 for each conversion I bring in then i want to be spending max $50 on traffic for each conversion and I'd start to consider stopping the campaign if I was spending over $75 for each conversion.
Thats just the way i do it and not necessarily the best way; I just like always playing it safe with paid traffic. I know guys who run at low margins if high volume is possible so for example they would keep running a campaign that cost $90 to generate a conversion they where being paid $100 for. Ive never done stuff like that because i always feel with such small margins things can go bad too quickly; you can go to sleep with your $10 margins and wake up finding yourself in the red.
So it really depends on your risk tolerance.
