My chickens are not organic because I don't feed them organic food. For the most part they are free range but sometimes the hawks come and they have to get locked up for a bit. Especially in the winter since there is no real cover for them to get under. The meat birds you only raise for 7 weeks, they are a glutton for food and would be separate from my "pet" birds so I can't see myself getting at all attached.
I'm sure I wouldn't have an issue having someone come once a month to prepare them. I'm positive my friends would buy the chicken, just not sure I wanna deal with all that.
I do this all on my own. My husband can't stand all these animals. So, if your wife loves them she may be a keeper!
