Red Bull ice climb takes on frozen Niagara Falls

Knowing firsthand how unstable the ice conditions are at Niagara - I was expecting a different outcome to this.

Red Bull returned to Niagara Falls this week for a crashed ice event of a different sort.
Canadian ice climber Will Gadd was at the falls Tuesday, climbing a 54-metre jagged ice formation on the American side of the Horseshoe Falls.
U.S. officials were pretty tight-lipped about what was going on when first questioned by the media.
Representatives with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the Niagara Falls State Park did not return calls from Canadian media.

The New York State Parks Police told The Review the activity at the falls was "training."
Turns out, a crew on the U.S. side was filming Gadd as he ascended the cliff of ice.
Gadd, also known as Captain Adventure, is sponsored by Red Bull. The 47-year-old Alberta resident was recently named a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year.
"State Parks Police were on site earlier this week for safety and security for a Will Gadd Red Bull film project," a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Further media inquiries were directed to Niagara Falls State Park and Red Bull.
