This is my favorite red herring. Just because an ingredient is used in multiple recipes doesn't make it a boogeyman.

Did you guys know that dihydrogen monoxide is used in French Fry creation to? It's a major component of the most powerful acids in the world, has been linked to severe burns (some of which have lead to death!) and kills thousands of people every year. It's also known as water.

You can always tell when someone's grasping at straws to find something bad about a product when they rely on the whole 'ingredient from X' bullshit.
