Sounds like a ground loop. Those can be very hard to track down and diagnose or fix. Try plugging it into a different electrical socket. Or try plugging it into the same socket your computer is plugged into if it isnt already. I guess the best bet would be to make sure every device that is connected to your computer is plugged into the same power bar.
