My wife's uncle is a kilt maker, he took care of all the kilts for my wedding (30 total). A real authentic kilt will not be cheap, if you are getting one for fun then I don't suggest going the route of Scotland, try China knock offs or something. My wedding kilt was around 800 pounds which at todays ex rate is in the region of $1,250 USD. For that you get kilt, 2 shirts, wasitcoat, blazer, socks, shoes, sporran, sgian-dubh, sock tassles, cufflinks and pretty much everything you require.

You can also probably pick up a used kilt for about half the price at a good rental place, so long as you don't mind that it is worn. They are always in very good condition and only hired by decent people for weddings mostly.
