By that it appears that you knew the scheme was somehow designed to fuck over adult webmasters. You have not expounded on what the scheme was other than that.
Since you were fine with the scheme until you didn't get paid then you are as much a con man as anyone else involved.
You don't say that you quit because you found out something bad was going on. You don't say that your ethics were so insulted that you could not work with them anymore.
