I don't eat as healthy as I should but I'm not fat.. Why? Because I'm very active, I usually walk 5 to 10 miles a day and often bike another 5 or more. I also drink a lot of water which helps increase your metabolism.

Quality of the nutrients matters as well its not as simple as calories in vs calories out. Your macro break down (proteins/fats/carbs ratio) is a huge part of it as well.
Someone who eats 3k cals/day of balanced nutrition vs someone who eat 3k cals/day of gummy bears or junk food is not going to be as strong or have the same physical attributes. You may weigh the same based on your caloric intake but your ratio of fat to muscle will be vastly different.
