Despite my redneck childhood my brain and body survived and went on to backpack around a few areas of the world and one such area was the middle east. Based on my personal experience that woman would have been OK had she stayed out of Turkey. She would have been better off staying in countries such as Jordan, Iran, or even Egypt. She would have been safe in both Jewish and Palestinian areas as well.

Also there are a ton of gay muslims. When you walk around muslim cities you hardly see any women other than ones who are with their husbands. With the absence of females out in public I guess the men just do what is natural.
