What's a good camera for shooting POV?

I've done a few POV shoots now but think it is time to invest in a really good camera.

Last time I was using a small super light weight camcorder. The problem I had with it was that it was a little wobbly (probably because it was light and held by a single hand). Also the lens is fixed so I felt like it was cropped too much and I couldn't hold it further back because then I couldn't see the screen. I also didn't like the fact that it didn't look professional.

What do you guys recommend for a good POV camera? I'd like to shoot 4K to some kind of digital media (no tape) and it should work well for POV holding. Do I need a small handheld or do the more professional full size camcorders work? Wide angle is probably a must. Image quality with little noise is a must. Budget is up to $2,000 but could go $3,000 if it is really going to make a difference.

What camera do you guys use and do you handhold or set it up on a tripod behind you?
