One has to spend time learning what matters to the rulers of each of the nations to see how their ambitions/priorities conflict. A relevant example of something they disagree on is Syria; Putin wants his puppet Assad in place while Israel want regime change. Next would be Iran; Putin supports the current Iranian regime, Israel wants Iran to be attacked by The West.
Russia and Israel would both want to avoid a direct war with each other i.e. WW3, but they are keen to have control of their neighbors, meaning that proxy wars between Israel and Russia are inevitable.
