Property is great collateral for loans to expand a business. Buy one house and the profit becomes collateral for the next one. And so on until the portfolio is big, but like a bubble very fragile. Once the bubble bursts the portfolio is owned by the people who loaned the money.
So how many Hotels does Trump own 100% or even 10%?

Mark Cuban said recently that one of the things Trump does is strike licensing deals to put his name on buildings so there may be a good number of Trump buildings that he doesn't own any part of and is just paying to have his name on them in order to increase his brand awareness. That said, I have no idea how many of those types of hotels exist.
