The reality is Obama's inguations were much larger than average.
Say what you want, but Obama's election in 2008 was to date the biggest election of our lifetime. (You might argue Carter's election was important, but most likely only Baddog remembers that.) When Obama took office our country was at the lowest point I can remember, and we were dragging down the rest of the country with us. We had hope in Obama.
And this is not to say we hope ONLY in Obama; If Mccain had won I believe we would have seen very similar numbers. It wasn't really the future President, it was more about hope. We would have felt the same no matter who won.
Trump is used to everything being "the best". He is learning now he has no control over any of this. And spinning lies will not help.
