He joked with the crowd that with his idea the wall would make money by generating electricity so it wouldn't cost Mexico quite so much money. lol
He also joked that the beauty of it if it's solar would be that the higher the wall, the more valuable it will be.

From an engineering standpoint, I wonder if this would work or not.
The cost of the solar panels would be irrelevant because they generate electricity and pay for themselves.
How narrow is the wall? I have no idea what the specs are but I'll say it's .. what... 20 feet? Every solar panel installation I've seen is square, meaning it takes up alot of room along the X and Y axis. If Trump put panels on the wall they would all be inline with each other I assume.
I think that if the panels were inline, that it just might not be an efficient use of space. Trump would have to make his wall much wider to make electricity from solar panels efficient enough to cover the cost.
