If you allow religion to run your life you soon find the religion sets new boundaries to what you must do to be "faithful".
We saw this in Europe during the centuries prior to the 19th century. We see it in communities in America. We see it in the ME.
So your good muslims will soon be told to do bad things. Worse than they do today. Which is do they marry non-muslims, would they accept a gay son or daughter, etc. All religions are used to control people. It's the level of control we accept that makes the problem good or bad.
