In Tennessee, you can buy a full auto legally. But as already said, they are expensive as hell.

1934 - National Firearms Act - Because of Dillinger and all the Chicago violence, the purchase of full auto, suppressors and short barreled rifle required the purchase of a $200 tax stamp. Making them prohibitively expensive.

1986 - Firearm Owners Protection Act - FOPA - Under Reagan. This was a bill to protect gun owners from over zealous ATF agents. But in order for the bill to pass, No new full autos could be made.

Transferable - Means individuals can buy. Pre - 86 registered. But you have to buy the stamp.
