This was a moment for Drumpf to shine. It was simple. Someone filled with hate did something evil, and instead of condemning instantly he made it out like "both sides" were at fault.
This should have been easy for him. White supremacists hate jews, and his son and law is Jewish and for the most part his daughter is too.
