we both do not know how the situation would be now if they would have been treated like letīs say vietnam. not even cuba got that hard sanctions as NK got.
the western point of view is not respecting that this country wants to survive somehow and the kim family donīt want to lose power.
the western world is dealing with A LOT of countries what are in a similar situation.
in the NK issue there is still a lot of "american pride" what for some reason is not existing with vietnam.
the reason for that is that vietnam is not split in 2 countries while korea is.
the western world tried to use the same strategy what they have used i.e in germany but this will not work because of the mentality what you will find in all asian countries.
they are like ants and will just do what they got told and they are willing to die for their country and donīt ask if that is right or wrong.
in this political game what is played with NK there is a big double moral because all sanctions and actions against NK were justified with "human rights" while in other countries where there are benefits to be fetched, this right will not be discussed at all.
NK has no other option than to screw the violent spiral up until it is only to be or not to be on the table. they learned in the cold war that this last option always leads to a compromise. they are not that stupid that they donīt know what it means to push the button first - thatīs why they never will do it.
