Not fake news, but this might be a pretty interesting goof from the reporter at the New Yorker.
Then again, the article says he had 2 phones, so maybe only 1 was in the faraday bag and the other was out. So, not a goof.
If I was paranoid and was worried about tracking, I would just turn my phone off instead of use a faraday bag. After all if its off it cant send or receive signals or be tracked.
Then again I suppose my phone could be compromised with malware, and the malware could say my phone was off, but leave it on, with the mic and camera running to record what I'm up to. I think that is far fetched, but then again Steele is a spy and if anyone knows this stuff, it would be him.
