Only $12 billions? Less than $17 billions of that Russia exports to the States, which is less than 3% of our total export volume (we trade with the EU, China and Latin America, but not with the States)... So which country is the main trading partner for Australia then?
Russia-EU trade ~ $200 billion euros a year (231.2 euros for 2017).
Russia-China trade ~ $100 billion dollars a year ($40 billion USD for only 5 months of this year).
Man, even trading with Vietnam is more than $10 billion dollars a year for Russia. That's just some small and backward Vietnam, Karl!!! And your yearly summary trading volume (import+ export) with your main partner is... only $42.1 billions USD??? You are kidding me, right?
