I remember i got an MSX and ZX Spectrum while asking for Commodore 64 / 128.
All my friends had commodore and had great games, learnt programming, etcetra.
After 6 months i had seen the msx / ZX Spectrum and put it in a box...never opened it again.
Didn't had a computer for over 10 years, bought one when the internet started.
I could have made much much much more money if i stared with a good computer and started programming when i was 11...
Now there isn't much difference between computers like it was with commodore / ZX.
But i would buy a laptop that would give her the option to create videos, programming and all other things she might be interested in. If she likes Mac for creative things and using it, it would be ok.
Never paid that much for a computer yourself... than you should buying better computers for yourself also. I had to work on an old Samsung for a few months, when i bought a new ASUS for 1700 euro it was realy great to see the difference. Good computer = more fun. I have a gaming laptop, but never play games. I want a good laptop that can handle Photoshop.
So if you buy something, buy something good. No Chromebook shit. Something she could be creative on. In 4 years she can start working and save herself for a new computer.
If your daughter breaks 3 computers in 1,2,3 years, she don't need a computer, but a kick under the ass.
I would go for an ASUS or other brand. Cheaper with software than Mac's when you learn her how to hack it
