Yes, I've been promoting VR since the start. I also promoted 3D stereo back in the day (which incredibly is over 10 years ago now).

From my experience I would say that VR is following the same trajectory of 3D stereo. That is, massive hype, a lot of early adopters with cash willing to pay for site memberships, followed by a steady decline in hype and sales.

One difference as an affiliate I noticed is that I knew just about every other guy out there promoting 3D stereo porn ten years ago (I would think there was a handful of us). Now there's probably well over 100 VR porn affiliates all chasing a market share that's probably smaller than the 3D stereo was a decade ago, and which has shrunk markedly from this time two years ago.

Of course the big difference between 3D stereo and VR is that VR is being backed with billions by companies like Facebook who are taking a long term view. There is also AR around the corner which likely has more chance of mainstream adoption in the near term and will probably blend with VR.

However, at the moment most VR porn is simply 3D stereo porn with head tracking (and the added inconvenience of having to wear not geeky glasses but a bulky headset), and it's an oversaturated and stagnant market in terms of both sponsors/studios and affiliates.
