Nods head. All domains were once available to register for $10-$50, but not all domains have equal value. Domains are my area of expertise. The number of people who can't wrap their heads around why paying for a great domain is worth every penny is just astounding. But it cost $10 to register yada yada.
Once you step out of this mindset and look at the facts, you can begin to understand why it's worth opening your wallet.
Brand authority
Memorability
Higher CTRs with paid advertising and SERPS.
Better Conversions
Higher user retention.
The domain pays for itself over time.
