None of this makes any sense. Why would Iran want to bomb a tanker? Why would Iran physically attach mines to a ship when they could have used more modern weapons? Why would they return to the scene of the crime to remove a mine? Why didn't the United States Navy take action?

And where did you read that the US Navy watched the mines being attached?
