But if I get a pop-up that distracts me, I just close the pop-up and then consider closing the main page I was on too. I installed a DNS Sinkhole on my network just to block ads.

Keep asking people on GFY and Xbiz for advice though and you will find some that works perfectly for you. Don't give up. Good luck!
