See the business progression for what it really is:
Underground -> Taboo -> Mainstream

Effectively, the adult industry is becoming more mainstream as it moves to follow the money in the path of least resistance. 2257, Gov restrictions and Payment restrictions have put downward pressure on the industry. That negative pressure forces the industry as a collective to carve out new business models.

The product (naked humans) has never changed, and likely never will.

The next "innovation" won't be world-changing, but instead will be industry-changing as the adult aligns more with mainstream businesses.

This is why Pornhub has seen success - they've gone mainstream. They're not a tube -- PH is a brand. It's the BRAND which ensures popularity and underpins the success.

So the 'TYPE of site' that will be next - the ones which will really take off - are the businesses who can transform from "PORNSITE" -> MAINSTREAM-ISH.

While I doubt we will see 100x PE valuations of adult businesses anytime soon -- if an adult business can move out of the 1-3x PE range into the 5-6x (thus - doubling the enterprise value and making it investment worthy) we'll see more mainstream awareness (users and investments).

Moving out of the darkness and into the light is the 'next big thing'.

How the industry as a whole does that - is up to individual companies to discover new opportunities and unlock new paths that transform their businesses from porn -> less-porn-ish.

Happy days ahead, folks!
