I'll just stick with the mask debate for now.
Not saying you said this, but just to get it out of the way I give no merit to the "after the mask mandate people still got sick" argument. The argument suggests that suddenly 100% percent of the people did what they were being told to do. Honestly, with tightening and lessening of restrictions, peoples behavior has changed very little. Mask wearing, large gatherings, etc.
Where I live, I see between 50-75% actually wearing masks out in public. Of those, between 50-75% are wearing it correctly - A LOT wear it below their nose.
So, to say that masks do nothing, when so many are not even bothering, is --disingenuous is not the right word, but it'll do.
You're right, as we enter the colder months people are going to come into closer and more frequent contact with each other and numbers are going to climb, mask or not. But if everyone acted responsibly, we can blunt those numbers. That's all I'm saying.
