They didnt get rid of the RLD, they are just moving it to a more hotel like setting outside the city. Tourists will still find their way there.
I agree that the Dutch dont really want stoned/drunk horny tourists but they really dont want them in the center of Amsterdam. I think this is more of a land grab than anything else. The De Wallen has very expensive property, and they dont want prostitutes and drug dealers owning it. This is basically gentrification.
Unless Europe gets its act together, I doubt there will be shows in Europe in 2021. I dont think travel to the EU will be all that possible. I live in the NL and we are being told (lied to) that everyone will be vaccinated by July.
I got my first shot last week and I am high risk (cancer/kidney issues). I dont even have an appt for the 2nd jab. I simply dont see how any EU country can get to herd immunity through vaccination any earlier than Fall 2021.
