I do think considering the 5 year relationship it would be courteous to immediately send the whole payout while waiting for refund...surely they can cashflow that for a week and it's not like there's suddenly an issue with quality or something else. Simply an error in the payout process. Waiting for the wire to return before re-sending isn't the end of the world either, and would be reasonable for the network to do.
I would personally re-send immediately, because affiliates who push that level of volume for years on end isn't exactly something any network should take for granted, and 5 years in this space = a relationship of sorts.
I'm guessing you are dealing with this scenario right now?
