Most likely I mentioned to you by email, I knew three people personally that were killed and disappeared in Mexico during my stay there, and had multiple break-ins resulting in no police coming out to take a report.
Cost of "living" is NOT cheap in Mexico. Only the housing is. There are other mild climate destinations for you to consider relocating to.

Use this time to research other destinations that ex-pats have decided to call home, either part or full time. Fly out and spend some time there.
