Dude,

They are monkeys from Mauratania which is in Africa.

The monkeys live in the jungle and can carry all sorts of diseases that may be harmful to humans, just like pretty much any wild animal. The least of these might be a common cold and the worst, something like Ebola.

So, when these monkeys come from Africa they have to go into a 31 day quarantine to make sure they do not have any diseases. Meanwhile, anybody that would come into contact with these animals would be advised to watch for symptoms of any diseases.

If these monkeys were known to definitely be carrying diseases they would not have been being transported in the manner they were, they would have been in some kind of full containment unit.
