I recall watching footage of the aftermath of Katrina. people who survived sitting on rooftops with their pets and refusing airlifts cuz they wouldn't accept dogs, cats etc etc on the helicopters
tbh in that circumstance I'd do the same. no fucking way I'd leave my babies behind. ever
was the same with the shelters for survivors who managed to get out before the floods reached the second story of houses
emergency protocol in every nation capable of providing any assistance to people in times of disaster should recognize that sometimes peeps have beloveds that aren't human. there doesn't seem to be much recognition of that
